Andover, MA — Feb 19, 2007
Enterasys Networks, the Secure Networks Company™, today announced the immediate availability of enhanced network access control capabilities for its Enterasys Sentinel NAC solution. This new release enhances the functionality, interoperability and performance of Sentinel NAC and supports seamless integration with the company’s Dragon® Network Defense and NetSight® Automated Security Manager (ASM) and Policy Manager solutions.
These enhancements to Enterasys Sentinel enable enterprise customers to leverage “pre-connect” and “post-connect” visibility and control while also extending NAC beyond “health state” assessment to include context such as time of day, location, and user role coupled with secure quarantine isolation and remediation.
Key enhancements in the latest version of Enterasys Sentinel include:- Ease of deployment in multi-vendor environments, with support for RFC 3580-compliant edge switches from Enterasys and a number of other vendors, while integrating with multiple vulnerability assessment servers from Check Point, Lockdown, Microsoft, Symantec and Tenable.
- Actionable information through integration with Enterasys Dragon Security Information Manager. Dragon SIM can now extract user—MAC—IP location bindings directly from the Sentinel NAC database.
- Granular visibility and control of users and applications through integration with NetSight Policy Manager and Enterasys switching, routing and wireless connectivity solutions.
- Automated remediation through integration with NetSight ASM for post-connect identification, isolation and remediation of network threats. ASM enables Sentinel to take quarantine action on third-party switches.
- Faster performance for both assessment and enforcement, including sub-second lookup of end-station location.
“Enterasys Sentinel NAC solution is a strong addition to our network because it will significantly reduce reactive security problems and integrates seamlessly with our IDS and IPS systems and network management solution,” said Todd Marsh, principal network engineer for Bentley College in Waltham, Mass. “This solution provides the assurance we need that students, faculty and administration PCs are healthy before they connect to the campus LAN. In addition, Enterasys Sentinel will play an important role in our compliance efforts, particularly when it comes to ensuring that users are not using the network for illegal file sharing activities.”
Enterasys also is introducing two new Sentinel NAC Trusted Access Gateway (TAG) appliances that significantly enhance the number of concurrently supported users—the SNS-TAG-LPA with support for 2,000 users and the SNS-TAG-HPA, which supports 3,000 users.
“Enterasys Sentinel is a key part of our ability to deliver standards-based, multi-vendor interoperable pre-connect and post-connect network access control,” said Trent Waterhouse, vice president of marketing for Enterasys. “NAC is embedded in our connectivity and compliance solutions for Secure Networks™ to ensure the integrity and performance of IT services and the business users who rely on them.”
Pricing and Availability The Enterasys Sentinel NAC solution is available worldwide from Enterasys and its distribution partners. U.S. list price for the Sentinel Trusted Access Manager software begins at $12,995, and the Sentinel Trusted Access Gateway appliances begin at $8,995.
