NEWBURY, ENGLAND-- December 13, 2001--Enterasys Networks Inc. (NYSE: ETS), a leader in enterprise networking solutions, announced that International Multimedia Corporation (IMC), a London-based provider of media and storage solutions to enterprise users, has selected Enterasys as its preferred secure VPN (Virtual Private Network) provider.
As part of the selection, IMC will utilize Enterasys' award-winning AuroreanTM VPN technology for high-speed, secure connectivity to its recently-launched Virtual Network Attached Storage (V-NAS) & back-up solutions. Two services exist under the Global High-speed On-line Storage Technology (GHOST) umbrella, including V-NAS Office GHOST and V-NAS Mobile GHOST. IMC will also endorse and recommend Enterasys' Aurorean VPN solution as the primary access technology to worldwide medium-to-large enterprise organizations.
IMC's V-NAS Office GHOST and Mobile GHOST provide globally accessible and secure on-line storage services, leveraging the Internet and VPN technology for robust and resilient connectivity. The solution is available to global enterprise customers who own critical data, via high-speed VPN connections within its central Network Operating Centre based in the city of London. Through the deployment of Enterasys' Aurorean VPN technology, combined with its Dragon Intrusion Detection Solution (IDS), V-NAS GHOST customers will gain highly-secure access to petabytes of fast tape and disk storage, with usage delivered through a pay-as-you-grow model.
'Enterprise customers now need to invest heavily in backup and storage facilities as information is one of their most important business assets. The IMC V-NAS GHOST services compliment any in-house storage and back-up solution, providing low-cost access to large amounts of on-line, readily-available and, most importantly, secure off-site storage,' said Nigel Kilpatrick, CEO and Founder of IMC. 'Enterasys' Aurorean VPN technology provides our customers with highly-secure, low-cost global access to GHOST and makes the solution a very attractive storage solution.'
A cornerstone of Enterasys Networks' Secure Harbour architecture, the industry's first holistic architecture for secure network infrastructure, Enterasys' Aurorean products deliver enterprise-class secure remote access, site-to-site and extranet VPN technologies, with innovative policy-based management, ensuring the highest level of configuration and control. Through the implementation of Enterasys' Aurorean ANG-3000 VPN gateway, IMC is able to securely extend access from its NOC to locations around the globe. Leveraging Aurorean's intuitive VPN client application and powerful SOHO VPN Gateways, IMC can rapidly deploy remote VPN access to its clients through a network of certified partners, ensuring local support and implementation of the world-class Aurorean technology.
'Organizations are increasingly recognizing the importance of policy-managed VPN technology in providing ubiquitous remote access to their employees and partners , particularly with the increasing deployment of broadband internet access technologies. We are pleased that Aurorean has been selected as the primary connectivity solution for IMC's V-NAS GHOST services, especially as we have been chosen on the basis of our high level of security, and our policy and configuration management capabilities.
