Enterasys Enterprise Switches Get Smarter

Matrix Switching

Enterasys' Intelligent Access Platform breaks the boundaries of traditional switches.

The new Matrix E7 controls traffic at critical desktop user and server access points without the expense and complexity of routed solutions. The E7 accelerates throughput, delivers intense port density and offers an easy migration path to the latest technology. E7 works with 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation modules, protecting your networking investment.

This Intelligent Access Platform features seven modular slots, redundant power supplies, hot-swappable components and the revolutionary nTERA™ backplane. Based on the proven SmartSwitch engineering foundation, the Matrix E7 is extremely reliable a nd has no single points of failure. Designed for enterprise data centers, high-performance wiring closets and remote offices.

High-performance, standards-based Layer 2 switching—at the lowest cost point for modular switches in its class!

With the introduction of the Matrix E5, Enterasys demonstrates its continued commitment to enterprise customers—thanks to a switch that meets growing bandwidth and application requirements, and still fits within tighter operating budgets. The flexible Matrix E5 can be configured as a low-cost Layer 2 switch or, with the optional Advanced Router Module (ARM) installed, it can provide wire-speed Layer 3/4 switching and routing to support more business-critical applications. While not as feature-rich as other Enterasys chassis-based switching solutions, the Matrix E5 does compete favorably with lower cost solutions offered by Cisco, 3Com, Nortel and others.

New! Matrix E1 Family

The Matrix E1 family of Switching products provide industry-standard switching and routing, and can do so at wire speed with all advanced features—including security—enabled. In addition, the Matrix E1 products are based on Enterasys Secure Harbour framework, which includes user-based security and authentication delivered via port-based MAC address locking and 802.1X user authentication—essential to the User Personalized Network.

The Matrix E1 family includes the Matrix E1 Workgroup Switch (WS) and Gigabit Workgroup Switch (GWS), two new standalone Matrix L2/3/4 switches:

  • 1H582-51, a 48-port 10/100 switch with three expansion slots
  • 1G582-09, a 6-port 10/100/1000Base-TX switch with three expansion slots

OAS The Matrix E1 family also includes the new Matrix E1 Optical Access Switch (OAS):

  • 1G694-13, a 12-port gigabit switch with a 10 Gigabit uplink

SmartSwitch 2000 Family
