Enterasys NetSight® Inventory Manager

Simplified Network Configuration and Change Management

Enterasys NetSight® Inventory Manager is an advanced network asset Configuration and Change Management application designed to greatly simplify the deployment and management of Enterasys infrastructure devices. NetSight Inventory Manager gives network administrators a powerful visibility and productivity tool to effectively document and update a growing network.

Managing complex network infrastructures involves monitoring hundreds or thousands of business-critical devices. Keeping track of configuration, firmware revision level and capacity planning information can be overwhelming. Enterasys NetSight Inventory Manager automates management of device configurations and provides the tools you need to capture, modify, load and verify configurations for thousands of network devices. Using Inventory Manager you can easily perform device administration on configuration files, schedule firmware updates, archive configuration data and quickly restore one or multiple devices to a known good state. Powerful wizards simplify firmware and Boot PROM upgrades, configuration file archiving and device restore. Inventory Manager even identifies unused ports and chassis slots; and tracks moves, adds and changes for Field Replaceable Units.

NetSight Inventory Manager tracks configuration changes for Enterasys network devices made by other NetSight applications, third-party management applications, or the Console/Command Line Interface. It supports custom attributes, configuration template editing and configuration change management control. Inventory Manager records unique device identifiers in order to track and report the swapping of hardware modules during network upgrades, reconfigurations and troubleshooting.

Inventory Manager is a part of Enterasys’ NetSight enterprise-class network management system that provides visibility and control for a Secure Network infrastructure. NetSight Console—which controls infrastructure view synchronization, information sharing and preferences configuration—is required in order to run Inventory Manager. Inventory Manager is designed for use with Microsoft® Windows XP®, Windows Server 2003® and Linux operating systems.
