PCI CONFIGURATION ISSUES
Some PCI computers may require additional configuration to install a PCI adapter. If you have trouble configuring your adapater, try the following suggestions or see "PCI installation tips" in the Installation Guide.
Check your PCI Bios Setup
Make sure the settings in your PCI BIOS program match the following settings:
- PCI Slot #: Slot where the adapter is installed
- Master: ENABLED
- Slave: ENABLED
- Latency Timer: 40
- Interupt: Choose any of several that the BIOS Setup provides
- Edge-level: Level
- The exaxt wording of the parameters varies with different computers.
Update your PCI BIOS
Make sure you are using the latest BIOS for your computers. See the online help file called "PCI Installation" for a list of phone numbers of the leading PCI computer manufacturers.
Use PCI shared Interrupts with caution in DOS and Windows 3.1
- The drivers for this card support shared interrupts. However, because there is no industry-standard way to support shared interrupts, other adapters may support them differently, or not at all. This is especially true of SCSI controllers. Try the following:
- Run the PCI BIOS Setup program to assign a different interrupt to the other adapter
- Load the adapter drivers last
- Call the manufacturer of the other adapter for a shared interrupt driver.
