How To Download Firmware
In order to download firmware images you must access the Enterasys Download Library. You can reach this in a number of ways:

As shown in the illustrations below, The Download Library Screen shows the Enterasys product families. Identify the product and revision you require and click on that link. At this time, you will be prompted to login: use your contract number as the username (upper case) and the password (case sensitive) that you received when your account was first created. See Getting Started with LANCare/Availability Services Web Account for help logging in. (You must log in at least once for each unique product you wish to download firmware/software for).

Observe the illustration to the left:

If you chose "Firmware" from the last screen, this page will contain firmware in ".zip" compressed form, and release notes in PDF form (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader).

If you chose "Software" from the last screen, this page will contain packages according to the network operating system you use: Windows NT, Solaris, etc.

Note: filenames ending in "hex.zip", "fls.zip", or "pkg.zip" denote the type of firmware or both. Not all products may use firmware with hex or fls.

If you cannot access firmware directories which should be on your contract, your web account Group Access may need to be updated. Please visit the LANCare/Availability Services Web page and select the Account Administration link to update your Group Access. If your Group Access appears to be correct and you still cannot get access, email lancare@enterasys.com for a quick response, or call the toll free number for contract customers: 1-800-872-8440.


Downloading Firmware Files
After you make a selection you may be presented with the following screen if your browser is not configured to choose a decompression utility automatically. Choose Save File.... When you are presented with your standard file dialog box, choose a directory on local hard drive or a remote server.

Handling Long Filenames
Like most web sites, we use "long filenames." If your workstation (or remote server) does not support long filenames your browser will shorten the filename to 8 characters, which will effectively remove the version number - and potentially overwrite files of the same name in the directory to which you are saving. You may or may not receive a warning to this effect.

In this instance, we recommend that you create a directory on your root drive called "images", and subdirectories under "images" for each product. When your standard file dialog box appears, change the filename to the product subdirectory using only the numeric version number: For example: "SSR-2100-pkg.zip" would be saved to a directory you have named SSR, to the filename "2100-pkg.zip". This will ensure clarity in retrieving images by product and version later.
