The Individual ports selection is the default. If you choose the Individual type of port group, you simply add the desired ports to the group in the left panel (see Adding Ports to a Port Group). When you query for information about this type of group, information about the ports in the group is retrieved.
If you select the Port ranges (all devices) choice, you can enter range(s) of ports on all devices to the list of ports comprising the group. This enables you to enforce port configurations on, and retrieve port information from, specified ranges of ports on all devices. You can also add individual ports for all devices to the list. For example, say you had ten devices and you created a port group that included port ranges 1-3 and 10-12, and port 30. If you went to the Ports tab for the port group and clicked Retrieve, information would be displayed for ports 1-3, 10-12 and port 30 on Device 1; ports 1-3, 10-12 and port 30 on Device 2; ports 1-3, 10-12 and port 30 on Device 2, and so on, up through Device 10. If you choose the Port ranges (all devices) option, no ports appear under the port group in the left panel.
To access this tab, create or select a user-defined port group in the left panel Network Elements tab, then select the General tab.
