SNC provides network administrators with an understanding
of what features are implemented on their network devices
and provides guidance on how to best reduce security risks
SNC has two main components: the Advisor and Accountant
tools. The Advisor tool analyzes a device’s configuration
to determine possible security risks. The Accountant tool
provides a real time understanding of the security methods
currently in use.
SNC’s Advisor reviews a device’s configuration
and calculates its security score. It reviews a set
of features supported by the platform that affect security
and determines whether each feature is configured. The
Advisor provides a description of each feature, technical
advice and recommendations on how to configure it to
reduce security risks. The explanations include examples
of platform-specific commands to assist in securing
the network device. The Advisor can analyze devices
already deployed on the network or it can analyze a
text-based CLI configuration file. It calculates a security
score for each device, based on a weighted algorithm,
to provide a measure of how vulnerable the device is
to security risks.
SNC’s Accountant evaluates security on a per port
basis and provides real time information about what
is happening on the port. The Accountant uses SNMP to
determine what authentication methods are used on each
active port and what authentication policies are in
use. It gives the network administrator the ability
to see who is connected to the network, what port the
user is located on, and what authentication method was
used. It also provides the network administrator with
a quick glimpse of which front panel ports are active
for network planning.
For ease of use, SNC can import a list of devices from
a NetSight generated (.ngf) file or from a NetSight
2.0 Server database. For detailed reporting, SNC has
the ability to output its results to a file in Excel,
PDF, or HTML format. For web-based dashboards, SNC can
be scheduled to run from the command line and produce
HTML pages with the results of its scans.
Secure Networks Consultant has the ability to scan hundreds
of devices in minutes, as compared to the days it would
take if done manually.
Assisted Remediation Tool(ART) Wizard
Enterasys is excited to introduce the Assisted
Remediation Tool (ART) Wizard. By using ART, a network administrator
is provided with a complete configuration guide to implementing
Assisted Remediation on an existing network avoiding the configuration
complexity of Assisted Remediation deployment.

Policy Hit Accounting Tool
The Policy Hit Accounting Tool generates graphs
of policy hits for a set of policy enabled devices. After NetSight
Policy Manager is used to enforce a set of roles, services,
and rules on a device, the tool can be used to generate a graph
of these roles, services, and rules being hit by the traffic
received on the switch.
